Train Up A Child

My beautiful granddaughter and her papa worshipping God! Proverbs 22:6 says...Train up a child in the way they should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Ive heard parents say..."I'm not forcing God on my child when he/she is older I will let them decide. That's nonsense! Would you say that about education? No! In fact you start them in preschool so they will have a head start in learning. And (if you are wise) you will help them with their homework and make it fun for them so they learn to enjoy learning. Same thing with God! You TRAIN them to go to church and worship God and learn about Gods love for them. Then you help them by praying and reading Gods word at home, and make it fun so they learn to Love God and His Word!! You will be glad you did!!

Change is Difficult

All change is difficult. Even good change. The fact that change is difficult does not mean it is not Gods will. Sometimes we make changes after praying for direction and feeling like we heard God say "go this way" but when we do follow our heart, it starts getting very difficult. Its at that time we question Gods direction and will for our life. God never promised "easy". Look at the Israelites in the old testament after being freed from slavery in Egypt. They left Egypt with excitement and vision, because God said he was taking them to the promise land. A land flowing with milk and honey ( all good things) but as they walked in the direction God (through His servant Moses) directed them to go, it became VERY difficult for them. They even complained and wanted to go back (into slavery) because it was not easy... in fact it was almost unbearable!! But as we see as we continue to read the story, it was Gods will, Gods PERFECT will! And those who remained faithful (only a few from the original people that left captivity in Egypt), were able to get to the land that God promised them!! We must pray for direction and for Gods perfect will in our life then hen we feel God leading us in a certain direction, we should start walking in that direction and no matter how hard it may become, we must continue until we reach our promised land! Have a blessed week!!

You walked all the way from where?

So tonight I showed up at the outreach center after work for worship practice and find my husband chatting with a man.(which is nothing out of the ordinary because my husband LOVES to talk! He takes the saying "as Christians we have to be relational to win others to Christ" to a WHOLE new level! Haha!) He introduced us and said "meet a men who just walked all the way from Georgia." My first thought was Georgia st. Because that's that street our church is on and its a very long street, so I thought "cool". But then he said from the state of Georgia. He said it took him 23 months to walk to our town which is Vallejo, California. He arrived yesterday across town and someone told him he needed to go see pastor Scott at Bridgeway Church so he did! He said his wife died 5 years ago and he felt like God told him to walk to Boise,IDAHO. He said God had supplied his needs the whole way! I asked him why Idaho and he said he he didn't know, he would see when he got there. I asked him if he had any family and he said he did not. He told us a few stories of his journey, then we all gathered around him and said a prayer. We have a place at the outreach center where he can stay a couple of nights and a shower and food, then he will be on his way. Crazy the people you meet while doing Gods work! We have every reason to believe this man. Even if his story was not true, God asks us to help those in need.and so that is what we do.

Joy! Joy! Joy!

I got my Joy back!! Haha! Ever have a period in your life where you just felt like you've lost your Joy? I have. Just recently. Not just for a day or a week but for an extended period of time. We are reminded in scripture to wait upon the Lord. Wait...when it seems dark and God isn't there. Wait...when we pray but it feels like He is not listening. Wait...when all seems hopeless. Wait...Sometimes God wants us to live by Faith and not feeling. To trust that, even when we are not "feeling it" His Word is truth and that's enough. The word says "weeping may endure for a night but JOY comes in the morning. That's a promise!! Hang in there! Keep trusting and believing in Jesus! After a little while, your Joy will come! And that's a promise!! <3 Rebecca

So I am getting better. But the medication to stop the shingles is making me very sick! I truly cannot win! Lol...on another note,we have been hosting a family from south Africa in our home who is doing a seminar on witnessing door to door in the community, getting them saved, and filled with the Holy Spirit. Last saturday they went out and 15 accepted Jesus into there hearts and 2 were filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. I attended the first week but since I have been very sick, I have not been able to attend. Scott couldn't stop talking about how amazing last nights teaching was. He said he knew God was revealing some amazing stuff to him through the teaching of the word. I'm so bummed I couldn't be there! But somehow God allowed this sickness and I'm trusting Jesus to take care of me. So I must sit and rest at His feet until I get better.

Im pretty sure Job had shingles!

Shingles...ive always heard about this painful virus which is actually dormant chicken pox that has been in your body since you initially! contracted chicken pox and has deciced to re appear as very painful blisters called shingles, but I never gave it much thought until I had an outbreak that started a few days ago. And now I'm pretty sure the boils that tormented Job were none other than shingles! Well I may be over reacting a bit...but not much! Ouch! I cant believe how much pain I have been in! So I was sent home from work because some co workers felt it may be contagious. And because I cant afford to stay home from work or a doctor(I have no medical right now) or the Medication, I cried almost the entire way back home and into the arms of my loving caring husband. Who took me to the beach to pray. (The beach is where he always goes to get alone and talk with God about serious stuff) We came away with the peace in our hearts that 1. God loves us. We are His children. 2. God has NEVER not met our needs. EVER. 3. The God of the Bible can be trusted to take care of us, His children. 4. Whatever happens is because He allowed it to happen...For a reason that we may not know until we get to Heaven. So we came home and a wonderful family (who are staying with us while they teach classes at our church) prayed for Jesus to completely heal my body. And that the blisters would be gone when I woke up in the morning. ...and we know that all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose! I believe this!! And put my hope in Jesus!!
